The girls, as well as, the horses had a fantastic day riding in the mountains in northeastern Colorado. They went with a friend who rides a QH that now wants a Lippitt Morgan after seeing how well Archer handled the terrain.
This was Thistle’s first real test in the mountains, since the group was looking for antler sheds, they traveled cross-country and off trail the whole day. Until this trip Thistle had never been off trail and she did wonderful in a variety of terrain changes, rocks, steep hills, up & downs, thick trees, even boggy footing and creek crossings. Cadence is very proud of her Little Red Thistle.
Archer covered the terrain like a Morgan should, she loves the up hills best. Keeley found the only antler shed the group discovered for the day and brought it home. At the mid-day break Archer kept the group’s three horses together and close to their humans. The QH wanted to wander further away to better grass but Archer kept driving her back near the riders.
Unfortunately, Aliy and Robin had to stay home but they did take a long walk together since this was one of the few days without rain.
