Aliy and Toss

Other than walking a few trails this last week Aliy hasn’t been asked to do much. Mostly grooming stuff, which includes being vacuumed. It’s been spring break here and several people have been out visiting their horses so that has limited us to riding outside the arena. Tomorrow, however, should be different. We plan to set out many of the toys and play with the horses. Aliy knows the turn on haunches but we are adding in the verbal cues to indicate which direction she should move. Aliy has also played around with learning the Spanish step and she seems to love doing it. Yet with her still being young she is never asked to do very many at one time.

A lady who raises QH visited yesterday and she and her grandson spent time petting Aliy. The woman commented on how easy going Aliy was about having her ears touched as well as the rest of her. Then the woman asked what kind of things Aliy could do. Aliy can do quite a bit actually but I resisted the urge to show off. (But commenting here probably negates that personal control). Anyway it’s hard not to show off with Aliy. Luckily, the video camera is on the fritz, works sometimes but doesn’t others, otherwise everyone would be seeing more of Aliy showing off.

Aliy’s Birthday is in 10 days. Once she is a year old she will be started on driving. Really there is no reason to wait but the plan has always been to hold off till her birthday. So that is what we are going to do.

The photo is of Aliy lunging counterclockwise (three circles only) Easter afternoon while Toss (Robin’s retired search dog, who will be 13 this June 2015) ensures her circles are perfect by traveling clockwise. Toss is often with Robin and Aliy when they go for walks.

Aliy would prefer to be munching on the hay field's fresh grass instead of taking picutes.
