Winter Strikes Again

While the Eastern portion of the US is being buried in snow we have been having fantastic weather. The days have been sunny and dry for the most part, ranging from 50’s to 70 degrees. Last Thursday was in the 70’s, Friday was upper 60’s until late afternoon and then the wind began to blow and the clouds rolled in. Today, Saturday, the temperature’s high remained in the low 30’s with winds in the 20s blowing snow all about.

All the horses have been shedding, Thistle almost looks completely shedded out. So we blanketed them. Generally we only feel the need to blanket them in fall, when extreme changes in temperature are the norm, but February 2015 is going out like the autumn season of 2014.

Just before the snow really started coming down my husband got this photo of Cadence with Aliy and Thistle. They were discussing the coming weather. Thistle, her normally jovial self, took the information very solemnly but perhaps she was really telling Cadence.
