We got tired of the snow and ice, along with the mud, and packed up the horses and drove them over to an indoor arena that we rented for an hour and a half. It was absolutely fun to be out of winter weather, even if only for a short time.
Over Christmas our area got about 12 inches of snow and some really cold weather, not to mention wind. Then things warmed up just enough to melt a bit but refroze in addition raining and freezing everything. The world was coated in ice. The ice was so bad the horses could barely walk. Then the ice began to melt and now we were knee deep in sticky, slippery, clay, mud. The mud was worse than the ice. Bad enough Robin injured her knee just walking out to the horses.
So we spent a short time in the oasis of the indoor arena. It was supper fun. Depending on the coming weather we plan to go at least once each week. However, the weather prediction for the coming week actually looks like it might just get good enough to head over toward the foothills and go ridding. Yet, the indoor arena is definitely going to stay on our list as the place to go.
