Archer's Christmas Present

This week we picked up Archer’s Christmas Present. We’ve been desperately waiting for the Christmas shopping to begin in order to buy, in budget, a MUCH needed vacuum as part of Archer’s grooming accessories. The never ending surplus of dirt held in Archer’s coat can be horrendous. No matter how much you brush her there is no way she is coming clean without the use of water and soap. We don’t have a wash rack so a vacuum seemed the next best thing. Archer’s former owner warned us about Archer’s desire to overindulge in dirt and mud, which is beyond compare to any horses we have ever known.

So for Christmas Archer is getting her present, as early as possible, a vac. We decided to go with a small shop vac that converts to a blower. We will be making a custom shoulder strap so the vacuum/blower canister can be supported on the groomer’s back while she uses the hose attachments to clean Archer.

We can hardly wait to begin to get Archer accustom to the noise and the air movement. Aliy probably too will get vacuumed and/or blown clean once in a while. Thistle on the other hand tends to stay a pretty clean horse. So lucky her, she won’t have to be introduced right away.
