A Special Day

Cadence and Thistle received some awesome compliments today from a person that knew Thistle before she was Thistle. It is really special when someone recognizes your efforts and tells you publicly how great a job you’ve done. Cadence, who is somewhat shy, had to be proud, I know I was. Cadence and Thistle were even persuaded to do a little demo from their repertoire of tricks.

Thanks to the success with Thistle we may possibly be training another horse pretty soon.

Also today, Keeley was given the loan of a training cart so she and Archer can seriously start cross training in harness work. Keeley still plans to buy a saddle this coming week but the two will also begin some harness foundational work. It should be fun.

As far as training goes Keeley introduced Archer to operant conditioning today while lunging and also introduced the target stick. Archer hasn’t quite put two and two together but is happy to eat the carrots. Training won’t take long once Archer figures out the game rules. Once the rules are understood Keeley will also be working on the biting problem.
