Planning
Aliy’s brand inspection has been completed and transport is arranged so it looks like she will be moving to Northern Colorado come Aug. Yes I agree, she is pretty young to be moving away from her dam and the other foals. Yet, Aliy is quite independent and since she likes to escape the pasture fencing she can’t be kept with the other foals, so she isn’t receiving the benefits of any foal socialization. So currently the plan is to pick her up the first week of Aug sometime. She already eats her feed well and has weaned herself from her mother without human intervention. Once Aliy is here we will take things slow to allow her to adjust to the new surroundings. We hope she can integrate in with Thistle and Archer but Archer may be to dominate. Thistle is little more tolerant of other horses where Archer enjoys establishing her supremacy. Aliy is too small if there were to be any problems so she will be stalled next door to the two mares for the time being.
