Mother Nature wasn't invited to the Wedding

This whole week each of us has been helping with wedding setup. Tim and Ciara are going to be getting married Saturday, Sept 14th. We have family traveling from California and Arizona, including my Mom, Dad and Aunt. My Dad is going to be the minister for the wedding.
The problems we have had due to flooding are extremely minor compared to the difficulties other Coloradoans are having. We pray they all stay safe and that they will have a quick recovery from what devastation they are experiencing.
But Mother Nature thought Tim and Ciara needed a few more challenges to test their love.
Sept 13th…. Major Flooding In Greeley.
1. On Thursday, Tim was still trying to track down the wedding rings. Due to flooding the rings were some where in Colorado but not sure where.
2. Electricity went out while I was baking the last layers for wedding cake. I just kept the oven door closed and it finished ok. Big drawback to no electricity …… having to mix all the frosting for a three tier wedding cake by hand.
3. Tim got a call from the reception hall he had booked “the Red Cross needed the hall as an evacuation center.” Tim was able to get another room on very short notice.
4. Colorado border is closed. No vehicles with out of state plates are being allowed to cross into Colorado from Wyoming. Our family from California is stuck in Cheyenne. If they can't get here there won't be a minster for the wedding.
5. The Evans sewer system is out. Expected to be working again in 10 days.
6. Flood water has reached the stable. Not too high but the noise of the river (which is really loud) is making all the horses VERY nervous. Not sure what to do yet if we have to evacuate Thistle. Thistle is still un-leadable and there is so much mud I don’t think we could get a trailer in even if we had one we could barrow, let alone get Thistle in a trailer. The stable manager did have to move some of the horses to higher ground. Thistle is currently ok.
7. Evans road blocks along with traffic congestion had Tim almost an hour late for the wedding rehearsal.
8. Making plans to have my husband, drive up to Cheyenne and pick my Mon, Dad and Aunt so he can drive them across the border with our Colorado plated vehicle. Also working on locating another hotel for them here because the original one they had booked was in the No Sewer area of Evans.
In the end…
The Wedding went well despite all the challenges. My Mom, Dad, and Aunt were able to arrive in time to give the service, without my husband having to drive to pick them up. The family coming from Arizona couldn't make it which was a disapointment but understandable considering everthing going on.
Edit: In Jaunary 2014 the city of Evans posted this video about the flooding.
